Pochi Privacy Policy
Pochi (the "App") values your personal information and complies with Korea's Personal Information Protection Act and other related laws. This policy explains what information the App collects, why, and how it's handled.
1. Information we collect and why#
| Category | Information collected | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in (Kakao, Naver, Google) | Member identifier provided by the sign-in company, nickname, email address, profile photo | Identifying members and sign-up, account recovery, responding to inquiries, setting your default nickname and profile photo |
| Guest | A random identifier created by the App (no name or email) | Identifying the guest account, backing up records |
| Entered by you | Nickname, avatar color, profile photo chosen from your gallery, birthday (month and day, optional) | Showing your profile, birthday events |
| App usage records | Number of short-form videos watched per day (by app), daily limit, difficulty, limit mode for each app, schedules, whether you kept your limit, streak, time reclaimed, seed, badge and shop records, app version, last access time | Providing records and stats, rankings, backup, improving the service (statistics across all users) |
| Titles | Titles earned, title being worn | Showing titles and the leaderboard |
| Friends features | Friend list, cheers sent and received, invite codes, friend invite records (whose invite code you became friends through, and when) | Providing friends, cheers and friend invite features, notifying the inviter that "You're now friends," preventing brute-force entry of invite codes |
| Install source (Google Play Install Referrer) | The invite code contained in a friend's invite link, when you install through that link | Automatically becoming friends with the person who invited you after installing |
| Ratings and feedback | Star rating, feedback you leave, app version | Improving the service, responding to inquiries |
| Error logs | Error details, device model, Android and app version | Fixing errors |
| Problem reports | Report content, detection logs (if you choose to include them), device information | Responding to inquiries and fixing errors |
| Backup | All App settings and records, including the information above (saved when you sign in, when you save your profile, and automatically every 6 hours) | Restoring your records when you switch phones |
- Even if you use the App as a guest, a server account is created for record backup and rankings. However, we don't collect sign-in information such as your name or email.
- We receive your Kakao email only if you agree to share it.
- The install source is read from Google Play only once, the first time you open the App after installing it. We only use the invite code when you installed through an invite link, and we don't use advertising IDs or any other install information. Attempts to enter an incorrect invite code are kept for only two days, to enforce a daily attempt limit.
- The "This week's results" share image is created on your phone and sent only to the app you choose. It is not uploaded to Pochi's servers.
- Weekly report and cheer notifications are created on your phone, and no additional information is collected for them.
- Ratings and feedback are collected only when you send them yourself from the App's rating window, and leaving them is optional. Star ratings and feedback left inside the App are not sent anywhere else, such as Google Play. (Reviews you leave in Google Play's review window are subject to Google's policies.)
2. About the accessibility permission#
The App uses Android's Accessibility Service to count short-form videos and help you stick to your limit.
- It works only in three apps, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, and figures out on your phone whether the current screen is Shorts, Reels or TikTok and whether you swiped to the next video.
- To leave ads out of the count and to take you out of the short-form screen when your limit is used up, it checks the "Ad" label shown on screen and button names like "Home" and "Shorts" only on your phone. When your limit is used up, it presses Back or the Home tab for you. If you open short-form in a small window (PIP), it pauses it, and if it doesn't stop, it opens that app full-size again.
- Video content, comments, messages and anything you type are never stored or sent to a server.
- Of what the Accessibility Service detects, the only things sent to the server are number records, such as daily counts and whether you kept your limit, and detection logs (such as button names) that you choose to attach when you send a problem report.
3. How long we keep it#
- Member information and records: kept until you delete your account. You can delete it right away from Profile → Delete account in the App. When you do, your profile, records, titles, backup, friends, cheers, invite codes, friend invite records, ratings, error logs, problem reports, profile photo and sign-in connection on the server are all deleted immediately.
- If you can't use the App and request deletion by email ([email protected]), we will delete it within 7 days after confirming the request.
- Accounts that haven't been accessed for more than one year may be deleted after advance notice.
- Information that the law specifically requires us to keep will be kept for the period it requires.
4. Sharing with third parties#
The App does not sell or provide your personal information to anyone else. The only exception is when there is a request made under the law.
If you turn on Show on leaderboard, your nickname, avatar or profile photo, badge and the title you're wearing, streak, and time reclaimed are visible to other users of the App. If you turn it off, they are visible only to people who are mutual friends with you. You can turn it off at any time. Your profile photo can only be seen inside the App and is not made public on the internet.
5. Outsourced processing and international transfer#
| Recipient | What they do | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase Inc. | Server, database and photo storage | Servers: Seoul, Republic of Korea (AWS ap-northeast-2); Company: United States |
- Items transferred: the sign-in information, information you enter, usage records and backup listed in section 1
- When and how transferred: sent over encrypted internet connections while you use the App
- Retention period: same as section 3
- If you don't want your information transferred abroad, you can use the App as a guest or delete your account. In that case, you won't be able to use the friends, rankings or backup features.
Sign-in uses the sign-in services of Kakao, Naver and Google, and each company's privacy policy applies.
6. Your rights#
You can ask at any time to view, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop its processing.
- In the App: change your nickname and photo by editing your profile, turn off showing on the leaderboard, sign out
- Account deletion (closing your account): you can delete it right away from Profile → Delete account in the App. You can choose whether to also delete the records left on this phone.
- If you can't use the App: request deletion by email ([email protected]) and we will delete all your information within 7 days after verifying your identity.
7. Children under 14#
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If we learn that such information was collected without the consent of a legal guardian, we will delete it without delay.
8. How we keep it safe#
- All communication is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Database access permissions are separated so that each user can see only their own information (row-level security).
- Only designated people have administrator access, and actions taken by administrators are logged.
